Govt to allocate Rs5 million for Sujata's treatment

Nov 13, 2016-
Government has decided to allocate Rs5 million in medical expenses to Nepali Congress leader Sujata Koirala for her health treatment. Koirala has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The decision was made in contrary to Health Ministry's proposal to set the ceiling for medical expenses to state VIPs at Rs1.5 million.
A Cabinet meeting on Sunday made the decision under the recommendation of NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi. A proposal to fix Rs1.5 million for health treatment was in today's agenda, however, it was bypassed and decision was taken in Koirala's favour.
Meanwhile, Koirala has left for Singapore for further treatment today. She had demanded Rs10 million from government for the purpose.
She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer during a visit to Malaysia. She stayed there for a week to undergo a surgery on her left breast. Sources said her cancer is in the first stage.
